IB Programs
The IB Diploma Programme is a two year program that starts at the beginning of grade 11 and is completed at the end of grade 12. Students completing the IB Diploma Programme will also fulfill requirements for a BC Dogwood Graduation Diploma.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) is made up of the IB Diploma Programme core and six subject groups.
The three IB Diploma Programme core is comprised of:
- The Theory of Knowledge (TOK)--a course that has students reflect on the nature of knowledge and on how we know what we claim to know.
- The Extended Essay (EE)--an independent, self-directed piece of research, finishing with a 4,000-word paper.
- Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)--an independent or collaborative enterprise where students complete a project related to these three concepts.
Students must take 3 subjects at a Higher Level (HL) and 3 subjects at a Standard Level (SL)
As our numbers increase we can start to offer the following programs.
Unfortunalty our numbers are not high enough to offer them at this time.
Students who do not want to complete the full IB Diploma Programme (http://ibo.org/programmes/diploma-programme/) are able to chose one or more of the IB courses to take along side their BC courses. This option is ideal for students who wish to pursue some of the other electives that Parkland offers while still being able to take individual IB courses.
Upon completion of individual IB courses students will receive a certificate from IB international indicating which IB courses were completed.
Students taking any Higher Level (HL) IB courses can earn Post-Secondary credits for Universities across Canada and the world.
