French classes at Parkland

French 9

Students come to French 9 with a background in French language and culture from middle school and elementary school. In our class, we build on these skills and aim to improve communication and the innate satisfaction of conversing and being creative in our country's other official language. We do quizzes, tests, projects, listening activities, dictées and oral evaluation.

French 10

This class expands on students' knowledge and use of the passé composé, irregular verbs and the imparfait. Focus is again on communication, culture and creative output while building skills and accuracy. We do quizzes, tests, projects, listening activities, dictées, oral evaluation and a field trip.

French 11

For students who require a second language to enter a university or college of their choice, this is an important credit for their transcripts. For others, who wish to travel for pleasure or for volunteering activities in the future, pursuing French to this level is recommended. Grade 11 students learn a bundle of new tenses and take on more challenging reading, listening and writing components. We do quizzes, tests, projects, listening activities, dictées, oral evaluation and a field trip.

French 12

This class will offer students a deeper understanding of a variety of cultural aspects of the French language. Students will read a novel in French, do movie reviews, attend a university writing workshop and collaborate with other French learners and speakers. There are quizzes, tests, projects, listening activities, dictées, oral evaluation and a field trip.
