Tomorrow is National Day for Truth & Reconciliation, a National Stat holiday. There is no school.

Grade 11 and 12 students: The Canadian University Event, CUE, is happening at Stelly's on October 4th. We are taking a bus from Parkland to the event. The field trip letter and permission form is available in the counselling foyer. The deadline for forms is today. See Mr. Choo or Ms. Anderson if you have questions.

Want a custom, cozy scarf or toque to keep you warm this fall? The Parkland Knitting Club is going to start meeting in rm211 on Wednesdays at lunch. Our first club meeting will be Wed. Oct. 5. All levels, including beginners, are welcome! Some needles and materials will be available or feel free to bring your own.

Sidney / North Saanich - Library Teen Advisory Group - Teens ages 13 – 18 years interested in working on community and library projects are invited to join the Sidney/North Saanich Library Teen Advisory Group. Teen Advisory Group (TAG) on Saturday, October 1, 10:30 – 11:30 am. This is a great opportunity to: Earn service hours, develop leadership skills, meet other teens, give your resume/scholarship applications a boost and have fun! Come see Mr Mueller or Ms K in the Library for more information!

Attention Parents: if you are interested in participating in the PAC Breakfast Club, please email parkland.pac.sd63@gmail.com. Breakfast Club runs 7:40am-8:20am, selling muffins and juice to our students. Schedules will be done based on parent availability. Thank you for supporting our PAC and our students. The Parkland Track campaign is still running.  Work on the new track has started but we are still in need of raising funds to resurface it. Please spread the word about this exciting community project and check out the website at www.parklandtrack2021.com .  There is a DONATE TODAY button at the top for those interested in donating. It will take a village to raise the money needed but we can do it! Thank you for your support of our community project.

ATHLETICS, SPORTS TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS AND GAME ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Congratulations to the Parkland Cross Country Team for another amazing race! In the Senior Boys Race, Ruby Broadbent was 3rd, Hector Lopez was 13th, and Ignacio Ereno was 14th! Nele Bruehne finished 10th in the Senior Girls Race, Marti Flo De La Camara was 15th in the Junior Boys Race and Sarah Buenger was 29th in the Junior Girls Race. We are currently looking for more runners to join us to qualify teams of 4 in each division for BCs here in Victoria in November!!! If you are interested in joining a very fun team, please contact Ms. Dibblee.

KidSport Greater Victoria is a local organization that exists to help families in need access organized sport opportunities for their children. To be eligible for up to $600 per year in registration fee support, children must be 18 years or under, families must be within financial eligibility limits, and season must be at least 8 weeks long with an eligible sport organization.  For more information, a list of eligible local sport organizations, and to apply, visit www.kidsportvictoria.ca.

Counter Service position available at The Roost! Interested in working in a busy bakery, bistro, farm, winery, and event venue in North Saanich?  All training will be provided as well as complimentary staff meals and a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities include:

-Taking customer orders at the counter and by phone

-Making specialty coffees, teas, and cold beverages

-Packing orders for take-out

-Assembling Bakery and Bistro dine-in orders

-Working respectfully with the kitchen crew

-Providing information to the public about the Winery, Tours, and Special Events

-Helping guests enjoy their whole farm experience

-Clearing tables

-Cleaning and stocking

The Kiwanis Club of Sidney and Saanich Peninsula has a job opportunity working at the Concession Booth at the Panorama Arena.  They provide valuable work experience as well as a great reference.   

Required Qualifications:

- Able to deal with the public in a polite and courteous manner

- Some math skills

- Work safe Certification (preferred)

- Team player

- Able to work flexible hours (mostly weekends)

Please Teens ages 13 - 18 years, looking for an interesting volunteer opportunity are invited to join the Sidney/North Saanich Library Teen Advisory Group (TAG).
