Halloween is coming, here are some fun activities:
- Screamfest is back at Claremont Secondary. Oct 25-27. Tickets available at our front office. $10 ea or $30 for a family of 4.
- Pumpkin Carving Contest - send a picture of your masterpiece to @pss_spirit on instgram. Entries open until October 30, voting will start on Oct 28 and winners will be announced on Halloween. No instagram no problem, email your picture to psspumpkinparty@gmail.com.
- Costume contest Oct 31 at lunch in the theatre

Studio 63 is holding a Canned Food Drive October 24-December 1 supporting the local Food Bank and while you are there get a new hair cut at the same time.
International Program Actively Looking for Host Families- Do you have a spare room? Are you interested in welcoming an international Parkland student to your home for a while? The International Program is looking for new host families to join us for the remainder of the first semester as well as for the second semester! In addition to an enriching and fun experience with your student, we offer continuous support and a $975 monthly reimbursement.

October is ADHD awareness month. Did you know that children with ADHD develop brain functions such as attention control 30% later than children without ADHD? Or that children with ADHD have less of the neurotransmitter dopamine occurring naturally? This 20 minute video from Kelty mental health clears up some myths about ADHD and gives a helpful overview of the complexity of ADHD. They've also put together an 8-module course for parents of children with ADHD that you can access via the same link. October Snapshot - Healthy Habits and Well-being

Congratulations to the Parkland Cross Country Team for some amazing results at the Island Championships. Ruby Broadbent was First Place in the Senior Girls Race for the second year in a row! She has now qualified for Provincials along with the other top Parkland finishers, Nele Bruehne and Hector Verea Lopez. We would love to see a big Parkland crowd out to cheer them on as they take on runners from across BC at Royal Roads University on November 5th. Marti Flo de La Camara, Ignacio Bettiol Ereno, and Layla Lebrun also ran excellent races yesterday and finished their season with fantastic efforts. We are proud of all of you!
