December 22, 2023 ~ last day before the winter break.

*** Today’s bell schedule:
Block 1 = 8:25 - 9:25  (15 min extra for Pancake Breakie)
Block 2 = 9:30 - 10:15
Lunch  = 10:15 - 10:55
Block 3 = 11:00 - 11:45
Block 4 = 11:50 - 12:35
Winter Show - Students are led to theatre starting at 12:35.  Students will be dismissed from theatre when it is over.

*** Today is the last day of classes for 2023. The school will be closed for 2 weeks. Classes resume January 8, 2024. Enjoy the break with family and friends!  Happy Holidays to all!

Just a reminder to all students that if you have outstanding library books to return them before Friday.

Story Theatre presents Creator Crew, a free arts program, for youth ages 14-19.  They also offer the first 8 registrants a small honorarium for food support and would be valuable to any low income students/families looking for free accessible activities.  Registration form.

Our PAC needs your help. The PAC would like to continue to run the breakfast club 7:45-8:25am, selling muffins and juice boxes to our students. They need parent volunteers to sign up. Thank you for supporting our students! PAC can be reached at: parkland.pac.sd63@gmail.com

Youth Health Clinic is every Thursday night 5:30-7:30 @ Shoreline Medical Clinic.

ATHLETICS, SPORTS TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS AND GAME ANNOUNCEMENTS

Calling all runners! There is an 8k race in January that starts and ends nearby North Saanich Middle School. The race is on Sunday January 14th at 11:30 am. It's a great way to kick off the new year! Students or teachers can sign up and join the Parkland Pant'ers team. The cost is $30. Register now.   Please see Mr. Burnham if you have any questions or want more information about the race.

Are you interested in a Career in Emergency Response? Fire, Paramedic, Police, Search and Rescue or other jobs that deal with Emergency Support Services?  Stop by the Career Center this week and speak to Ms. Mac about a fabulous opportunity with the Peninsula Emergency Measures Organization!

Calling all grade 11 & 12 students who identify as female and are interested in engineering and STEM, growing skills, and exploring possible careers in engineering! The Schneider Electric 2024 Project is a 3-month long project from January 22 to April 8, 2024. Students will work in a group to come up with a solution to a challenge provided by Schneider Electric. Weekly meetings will be hosted in-person at the University of Victoria (UVic) after school. The eligibility for this project is high school students in grade 11 to 12 who identify as girls. Are you looking for a career at sea? Camosun College is offering a program to get you started! The Bridge Watch Rating program can lead students to a nautical career starting as a deckhand on various marine vessels including BC Ferries, Canadian Coast Guard and many other organizations. This program is fully funded and open to women and Indigenous students and includes all related course fees and supplies. For more information and to register
