ATHLETICS, SPORTS TEAMS, TEAM MEETINGS AND GAME ANNOUNCEMENTS

Congratulations to the Parkland Track and Field team who participated in the Lower Island Track & Field Championships on Wednesday! Ruby brought home first place finishes in the 800m and 1500m (plus she won the 3000m last week). In the 1500m, Ruby broke the Lower Island Championship record which had stood since 1975!

Congratulations to Jackson Murray who finished first in the senior boys 1500m race walk. Marti took second place in the junior boys 1500m race walk and competed in the 1500m steeplechase as well. Hector ran great races in the 1500m and 800m events. Ignacio gave a great effort in the 1500m race walk, the 2000m steeplechase, and set a personal best in the triple jump! Next week qualifying athletes will be competing in the Island Championships at UVic.

*** Camosun College is offering an Indigenous Trades in Training sampler program for Indigenous students, 12 weeks, starting in July. The program is fully funded, and students will have the opportunity to try several different trades! 

The Gustavson School of Business at UVic is inviting high school students to join a free financial literacy workshop. Dr. Michael King leads this interactive session for students to strengthen and prepare their financial footing to enter university life. This workshop will give students a taste of Gustavson and finance through a fun and engaging session. This workshop has been designed specifically for grade 9 - 12 students.  The workshop will be delivered via Zoom, click the link to register for today.
